Yesterday I participated in the 2nd annual Colors and Chords fundraiser for the Islands of Brilliance. I was paired with an amazing band from Milwaukee called the Midwest Death Rattle. Thank for the invite, Melissa! On the way to Milwaukee I kept sayin’ to myself, “what did I get myself into?” I have painted in front of people before, however, I was not sure how this was going to look like. I used to participate in Good Knight’s Open Canvas live painting, but I had 4-5 hours to create a painting. In Colors and Chords I had 20 minutes to create a painting. Talk about pressure. What is even more pressure is not having an idea what to paint. Talk about ‘off the cuff’. Luckily, I was scheduled later in the evening so I had the opportunity to see how other artists performed alongside the bands.
It was great to be a part of something that makes a difference in the lives of other children and young adults on the Autism spectrum. Such a great program! Visit Islands of Brilliance at islandsofbrilliance.org.
