Certainty and Doubt explores the intuitive process and its challenges inside the studio. Each painting is executed with random markings on the canvas. These markings provide guidance on the next step in the process, which are affected by large sections of color. Editing is a continuous practice that will either contribute to the success or failure to a painting. It is easy to stick to what works, but the idea of exploring the unknown is what drives this work and my need to create.

Blister and Bubble is a great example of failed attempts that finally led to the success of this painting. Photos of my process are located towards the bottom.
