About Prak-sis Gallery

GACI Project is created by Prak-sis Contemporary Art Association which is a non-profit organization emphasizing art career development and art education. Prak-sis Contemporary Art Association was founded in January 2009 as a not for profit art organization. Prak-sis is a dynamic art experience, migrating to diverse locations across the cityscape. For projects since the Fall of 2010, Prak-sis has worked with small businesses and neighborhood support organizations for mutual benefit. With technology flooding our modern lives, Prak-sis seeks to promote art in new media as well as traditional art forms. Prak-sis continues to further develop and focus on online projects as we organize physical art exhibitions, bridging the gap between new technologies and traditional artistic practices.

We are a cozy fine art gallery just north of downtown in Chicago.  We welcome local community and visitors to the city. We try to provide memorable art experiences with stunning artwork by Geon-Art Case International (GACI) Project and Prak-sis Contemporary Art Association (Praksis CAA).

GACI Project works with many different artists from nascent to experienced emphasizing the development of their brands as well as enhancing their art careers under director, Mi-yeon (Geon) Kwon.  At G-Art Case, we pay particular attention to solo projects and represent artists’ artwork in a smaller scale at our gallery for both art lovers and collectors.

About Playing in the Dark

The theme of Playing in the Dark is symbolic for not knowing what to expect as an outcome during my painting sessions. This past summer I visited the Mattress Factory in Pittsburgh, PA and saw my first James Turrell Exhibition. At first I did not know what to think about his work, but as I began to think about it it made sense. It is about the experience. The experience of not knowing what is real and what is implied. The installation I keep thinking about is called Pleiades where the room was completely dark. You could not see in front of you. All you could do was to use your other senses such as touch and hearing to navigate the room.

With the closing of my gallery the opportunity to refocus on my studio practice was presented. Playing in the Dark is my personal inquiry on exploring ideas that have been swimming in my mind for months. I am an intuitive painter and the vulnerability of my actions is influenced by my thoughts, emotions, and feelings.

Reception: Frank Juarez and Dale Knaak at UW-Sheboygan Fine Arts Gallery

Tonight Dale and I had our reception for our first eva two-person show. We decided to pair our work together for the curation of the show. We found that this is the best way to showcase not only our work, but also the work being produced in our studio.

Here is a snapshot of Dale and Frank’s reception at UW-Sheboygan. This exhibition runs until July 31, 2015.

Thank you to all that came out to support us. We greatly appreciate it!

UW-Sheboygan Fine Arts Gallery is located at One University Drive in Sheboygan 53081.
