New Paintings (2019)

This summer, I participated in a one-week Educator ArtLab Residency at the Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI) in Kansas City, MO. This program brought 25 high school art educators from across the country to focus on paintings, photography, or product design.

I have to admit, I was a bit nervous not knowing what would come out of this experience after not creating art for over three years. I knew that I had to go in with an open mind and just live in the moment.

I left KC with a lot of ideas that I will need to work out at home.

Gallery (KCAI & KC)

A big thanks to artists, Joe Bussell and Fred Trease for their hospitality. They introduced me to a couple of KC artists, Cathy Logan and Laura Nugent, and Emily Ann Smalter, a gallery owner from The Smalter Gallery. We visited theInterUrban ArtHouse and the Bunker Center for the Arts. Places visited were the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, and H & R Block Artspace
